Introduction
The survey was initiated, devised, distributed, collected, coded, transferred to the computer and analysed by Professor J.R.Hinnells and Dr. G.M. Towler Mehta, at the University of Manchester, in the years 1985-1986. The study was executed to gain a picture of the World Zoroastrian Diaspora, since 1947. The survey sought to gather information about the demographic and socio-economic features of the religious community, as well as the religious and secular attitudes of the Iranis and Parsis in their new environments. The survey was conducted in most but not all of the communities of the Diaspora: thus the communities in Iran and India were not surveyed. The data analyses set out below refer only to European Zoroastrians.
